Jumia Nigeria has partnered First City Monument Bank, Cosharis Motors, MTN, Infinix, amongst others, in the 2017 Black Friday Festival.
Speaking at a news conference in Lagos on Monday, the Chief Executive Officer, Jumia Nigeria, Mrs. Juliet Anammah, said the company had also teamed up with music entertainment company, TRACE Naija, to host a music and deals fest.
According to Anammah, this year’s Black Friday Festival is being planned to bring a different experience of Black Friday to customers.
Anammah said the event was tagged a ‘festival’ because it would run from November 13 to December 13, during which lots of other activities would be going on.
According to her, this event is stretched through a 31-day period to ensure that Jumia brings the best deals to a greater number of people than previous years.
“We are always looking to push the envelope for online shoppers, and this year, we are bringing a bigger dimension with flash sales, weekly lottery draws, and the first-of-its-kind TRACE and Jumia MAD fest”, she said.
Anammah stated that the flash sales were only available to those who had the app on their phones, and the entry ticket to the MAD fest was the Jumia mobile app.
Speaking further, Anammah said other services and items like food, hotel bookings, plane tickets and fresh food would also be available at giveaway prices during the festival.
The General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Coscharis Group, Mr. Babarinde Abiona, said Coscharis Motors would give a brand new car as gift during the Black Friday Festival.
Abiona stated that apart this, Cosharis would give 10 per cent discount to Jumia customers on all cars purchased during the festival.
The Head, Digital Marketing, FCMB, Mrs. Lola Egboh, while speaking at the event, said the FCMB was also giving additional 10 per cent discount to Jumia customers who paid with JumiaPay.
According to Egboh, the deal is open to both new and existing FCMB customers.
“New customers who wish to partake in the discounts only need to visit the FCMB website, open an account, fund it, and order for what they want”, she said.
She said the process of opening a new account online would take less than five minutes, after which the account number would be instantly generated.
The Chief Commercial Officer, Jumia Nigeria, Thomas Simonet, said the highlight of this year’s festival was the broad range of vendors, both locally and internationally, offering one million deals, and the enlarged capacity to deliver two million items daily.
