Trump administration restricts asylum criteria in the US

US President Donald Trump‘s zero-tolerance immigration policy has made gaining asylum in the United States more difficult.

The administration has indicated that domestic and gang violence will no longer be accepted as causes for asylum, leaving vulnerable young people and migrants in ICE detainment cells in the short term and facing deportation back to face their attackers in the long term.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo has met one family affected by the changes.
